The OwlsheadGPS OHV Trails app illustrates the designated OHV route networks managed by various public land management agencies in California. The app integrates official OHV route data from these agencies to offer a mobile solution tailored for outdoor enthusiasts. It is crucial to adhere to the officially designated and signposted routes for motorized use when exploring California's backcountry roads and trails.

The OwlsheadGPS app encompasses over 37,000 OHV and motorized routes across lands administered by esteemed entities such as the Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, National Park Service, California Department of State Parks and Recreation, and other agencies statewide.

Key Features of the OwlsheadGPS app:

• Download trails and maps for seven regions for offline exploration
• Zoom and scroll on the map
• Display and update your location (available on iPhones and cellular iPads)
• Track your location on the map in real-time
• Record and view saved tracks with My Rides
• Favorite Trails feature to like and share your preferred routes
• Customize data layer display for wilderness areas, national monuments, military lands, parklands, and other special zones

Note that downloading data for offline use may require substantial data utilization. The initial download includes data relevant to all regions, subsequent downloads will be smaller. Optimal download performance is achieved with fast internet connections and by keeping the device active with the OwlsheadGPS app open. A confirmation message will signal successful downloads for offline use; reattempt downloads if this confirmation is missing.

To utilize location-based features like displaying and updating your location on the map or recording tracks, Location Services must be enabled.
